I will never surrender, says Donald Trump after firing near his golf club

After reports of a gunfight near his golf club in Florida, US presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that he is safe and will never surrender. He acknowledged that there were gunshots in the vicinity but assured that he was safe and well.
In an email to his supporters, the Republican presidential nominee said, “There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiralling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!. Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!” the former president said.
Multiple shots were fired near the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach of Florida at around 2 pm on Sunday (local time). The US Secret Service agents opened fire after seeing a person with a firearm near the golf club. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that they are probing the “attempted assassination”.
The suspect, who tried to flee from the spot in an SUV was arrested later in a nearby county, according to officials.
Trump’s campaign and the Secret Service agents said earlier that the former president was safe and was never in danger.
According to reports, Trump was golfing at the course when the incident took place. The Washington Post, citing two sources familiar with the situation, said that Secret Service agents then escorted him to a holding room at the club.
The White House said in a statement that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had been briefed about the incident and were relieved to know that he was safe.
Harris, Trump’s opponent in the presidential race, tweeted, “Violence has no place in America”.
Trump was injured in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania on July 13 during a campaign for the November 5 election, in which he will face off against Harris.
